CACDP Note-taking for Deaf People
The CACDP Note-taker course has been designed so that it can be taught in two ways:
34 hour stand-alone short programme for those wishing to specialise as Note-takers
Included as part of the Edexcel Professional Development Award - Communication Support Workers with Deaf People
A block of theory (three days)
Candidates then complete 9 hours guided placement working with deaf students in their home area.
A portfolio of evidence for marking by tutors and later submission to CACDP.
If you already hold the CACDP Deaf Awareness Certificate or the Edexcel module Deaf People and the Community, you will be exempt from the first day of the course.
Over the past few years, as more deaf people have been continuing their studies in further and higher education, the need for quality, trained support-professionals has been recognised. As part of this team, the role of the Note-taker has developed to take clear, logical notes.
