Deafblind Communication Level 3

LENGTH OF COURSE:
This is a four day course with one additional day for practical assessments.

ASSESSMENT:
30-minute written assessment (on the afternoon of the fourth day) and the assessment of practical skills by an external Deafblind examiner and hearing sighted assistant. The practical assessment is approximately 20 minutes but will comprehensively test the skills acquired through the course.

COMMENTS:
On the first day of the Deafblind Level 3 course, you will receive a study pack. This is an intensive course and you will be expected to study additionally outside the contract hours.

Following successful completion of the Level 3 course, written and practical assessments, candidates can opt to embark on verified practice (not part of this course) that will in turn qualify them to be included on the CACDP register of communicator guides.

This course is appropriate for those who already have a good basic awareness of dual sensory loss. It is the natural progression from the Deafblind Awareness course. This course is validated by the Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP).
