If you would like to come to Derby College for Deaf People you will need to attend a two day assessment.

When you have completed the application form you will be given a date to arrive on and more details about your visit.

You will arrive on Monday morning and will be met by your Assessment Tutor who will look after you during your stay at DCDP. You may be with other students on assessment. The maximum number of students we assess is 4.

During the day you will have a look around the facilities at DCDP and then you will complete a Literacy and Numeracy assessment.

After a discussion with your Assessment Tutor you will decide which course is best for you.

Here is a copy of the full programme that you will follow when you arrive.

Monday

10.45am Students and Parents Arrive.

11.00am Welcome and Students Aggreement.

12.00 Nurse and Then a tour around the campus.

12.30pm Lunch.

1.00pm Parents leave and the students start their assessments in Maths and English.

3.30pm Discussion about visiting Derby College.

4.00pm The students go to their Residences.

5.00pm Speech and Language and Audiology assessment.

6.00pm Evening meal and introductions to other students

7.00pm Introduction to using the Learning Centre.

Tuesday

8.00am Meet in Dovedale house. The College visit commences.

1.30pm Individual feedback amd evaluation

2.00pm Assessment is completed.

If you decide that you would like to come to Derby College for Deaf People you will be formally offered a place and a funding application will be made to the Learning And Skills Council.
