The course will give you the necessary skills to use your computer in a useful, practical way. It will provide a foundation for many forms of employment and leisure activities. It is a nationally recognized certificate that is the first step to higher qualifications.
There are no entry requirements but if you are a first time user we recommend that you start with the First Steps To Using A Computer course.
The course has eleven units. To achieve the full certificate you must take unit 1 and four others of your choice:
UNIT 1 - Using a Computer (Compulsory)
UNIT 2 - Word Processing (Optional)
UNIT 3 - Electronic Communication (Optional)
UNIT 4 - Spreadsheets (Optional)
UNIT 5 - Databases (Optional)
UNIT 6 - Desktop Publishing (Optional)
UNIT 7 - Graphs and Charts (Optional)
UNIT 8 - Computer Art (Optional)
UNIT 9 - Web Pages (Optional)
UNIT 10 - Presentation Graphics (Optional)
UNIT 11 - BBC Becoming Webwise (Optional)
The course is free but if you wish to take an exam you will be asked to pay.
