Job Description for CWs at DCDP

1. Support deaf students through sign communication, note taking and lip speaking.
2. Working closely with Co-ordinators at Derby College for Deaf People.
3. Providing and responding to information from College lecturers and Derby College for Deaf People tutors about arrangements for and the individual needs of deaf students e.g. assignments, examinations.
4. Working with students' peer group to enable deaf students to share fully in the life of the colleges.
5. Attending, minuting and providing documents for meetings as required.
6. Assisting in the delivery of awareness training for College lecturers.
7. Interpreting in a variety of situations including staff meetings, case confrences, visits and appointments off site.
8. Supporting students in Higher Education and training as required.
9. Preparing for specialist communication work when required.
10. Keeping up to date records of work undertaken by students.
11. Assisting deaf students with induction into work placement.
12. Working on own initiative, referring complex or sensitive matters to your Co-ordinator.
13. Working together with the DCDP team to develop new initiatives.
14. Promoting the integration of students with additional learning difficulties across the college.
15. Attending staff meetings at DCDP.
16. Participate in staff training and any staff review or appraisal.

Pay Scales at DCDP

Part time Sessional CSW per hour
Non qualified with Stage 2 BSL : £8.50-£9.00
Qualified Stage 2 with EDEXCEL/BTEC CSW Certificate : £9.50-£10.00
Non qualified VQ3 BSL : £9.50-£10.50
Qualified VQ3 with EDEXCEL/BTEC CSW Certificate : £11.50-£13.50
Note-taking only (CACDP qualified) : £6.00-£7.00
