Aims
The aim of the Learner Services department is primarily to develop learners' independent living skills. To give a framework to this learning process, DCDP offers a structured Independent Living Programme to develop their personal and social confidence.

In the same way that Deaf learners make an impact on the learning environment in the sector colleges, the Learner Services Team encourages learners to have the confidence to use the same services provided to the wider public.

By accessing professional information, advice and guidance services external to DCDP, it is hoped that students will grow in self-esteem and consequently become empowered members of the community.

Quality and Standards
Any information, advice and guidance that is disseminated should adhere to the Guidance Council's Principles. Part of the Learner Services influence within DCDP is that this ethos will permeate throughout the college.

The aim of this is to make sure the service is effective and meets the learners' needs, in line with national quality standards.

Learner Services has joined the Derbyshire Information Advice and Guidance Partnership (DIAGP) along with several other colleges and advice agencies in the area who all share the common aim of commitment to the Guidance Council's principles.
